Which means of transport to use from Nice Airport to the city center?

Nice has the second largest airport in France. Its location at the end of the “Promenade des Anglais”, 6km far from the city also makes it one of the most convenient airports in the world. Moreover, there’s a variety of options to reach the city center, between public transport, luxury taxis and rental services.

The city of Nice has a bus network with two services dedicated to the transfer of passengers from airport to downtown. These are Ligne d’Azur lines 98 and 99, which both depart from Terminal 2; they pick-up passengers at Terminal 1 before running along the “Promenade des Anglais”. The route of line 98 then passes “Place Garibaldi”, the port and “Vieux-Nice” to end at Nice-Riquier train station. Line 99 goes via “Gambetta Boulevard” near the train station and ends at Thiers railway station.

For travelers who are not familiar with the city, reaching train station may not be that easy, so it is advisable to take the shuttle from the airport and get off at the Arénas stop. The three train stations in Nice are: “Nice-Riquier” in the east, “Saint-Augustin” in the west and “Thiers” in the center. By the way, train is the ideal mean of transport to some nearby places, including “Ville franche-sur-Mer”, “Antibes” and “Cannes” where you can then call a private driver.

In front of the airport terminals, you can also find a luxurious fleet of local taxis. Indeed, many of them are from prestigious German brands like Mercedes or Audi. With some companies, it is possible to book a transfer from Nice airport with no extra charge. Taxi fares have to be paid in cash, so if you have no euro banknotes with you, remember to withdraw money from ATMs or exchange offices located in both terminals.

To reach Monaco, there is a very special service: the helicopter taxi that ensures up to 24 round-trips between Nice airport to Monaco. The ride only takes a few minutes, and you will enjoy a breathtaking view.

Car rental

For those who prefer a private car with a driver, there is a wide choice of rental agencies in Nice. To make the most of your stay, only deal with a reliable provider and remember to check the condition of the vehicle.
